Red, White & Blue

Below is a fitting song for the day, Red, White & Blue, performed live by Lynyrd Skynyrd back in 2003 in TN.

Besides being a patriotic song, that lineup of the band featured two of my favorite guitarists.  One is Rickey Medlocke, who was part of the early Lynyrd Skynyrd, but left  and made himself a name as the front man for the band Blackfoot, only to join Skynyrd again years later. The other is the late Hughie Thomasson who was one of the founding members of The Outlaws.  Hughie starts the final solo at 4:33 and is joined by Rickey as they both play what is one of Hughies most recognizable riffs at 4:46.

Have a Happy 4th and I hope you go to bed tonight with as many fingers as you woke up with this morning.
