On Sacred Idleness

Certainly work is not always required of a man. There is such a thing as a sacred idleness, the cultivation of which is now fearfully neglected.

-George MacDonald

Neglected indeed.

  3. Dear Ray,

I concur with you, the Sacred Idleness must not to be trivialized, unheeded or forgotten.

I have had my fair share of exploring Sacred Idleness. A good example is my visually enticing discussions of some perennially useful ideas and philosophies presented in great detail in a highly engaging and expansive post entitled “🔄📈📉 Change Rules and Moment Matters: How to Stay in the Moment 🔖🕰️🔂“, published at

As you will see, the contents of my said post is very congruent with those of yours. Please turn on your finest speakers or headphones, as the said post will be playing one of my musical compositions to you automatically. It is preferrable to use a desktop or laptop computer with a large screen to view the rich multimedia contents available for heightening your multisensory enjoyment at my blog, as the limitations of iPad, iPhone, tablet or other portable devices frequently result in very dissatisfactory and highly problematic handling of the complexities of my blog contents, severely curtailing their readability and distorting their formats.

Hopefully, this post can be of considerable interest to you, insofar as I have distilled a great deal of observations and conclusions along similar themes. One of the investigated areas concerns being present in the moment with awareness and (engaged) mindfulness. There are also detailed analyses on existential issues, including those pertaining to “change” as well as “being” and “becoming”.

Given our mutual interest in the Sacred Idleness of living in the moment, I would like to commend you highly for exploring and promoting Sacred Idleness so well!

Happy May to you very soon! Wishing you a productive May doing or enjoying whatever that satisfies you the most, whether aesthetically, physically, intellectually or spiritually, including that which pertains to Sacred Idleness!

    Yours sincerely,

Thank you for the comment. Since I only have access to my iPad at this time, I’ll delay my listening until I get home with the 48” screen and Bose speakers. I am a bit of a Phoenix aficionado and like the photo on your masthead. Thanks again.

If you also happened to be an audiophile and connoisseur of fine sonic art, then you would be pleased by the availability of a fair amount of music on my blog, much of which comprises my musical compositions. These constitute only a fraction of my total musical output, as I have yet to find time to showcase the rest on my blog. Moreover, those published compositions are by no means representative of my musical oeuvres, which are very diverse. Hence, please kindly turn on your finest speakers or headphones, as some of my posts and pages will be playing music to you automatically.
