On this Sunday, the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, aka Doubting Thomas, I would like to share a blog post from Malcolm Guite, who is quite an interesting guy.
It is also prompted by an ongoing conversation I am having with another blogger, who describes himself as “agnostic” yet often appears to being on the brink of becoming “a believer”. While I respect and honor his perspective, I wouldn’t be respecful and honoring of mine if I didn’t gently nudge him every now and then.
I thank God for St. Thomas, the one disciple who had the courage to say what everyone else was thinking but didn’t dare say, the courage to ask the awkward questions that drew from Jesus some of the most beautiful and profoundly comforting of all his sayings.
From, Thank God For “Doubting” Thomas.
