Was He Correct?

I recall that while in college (1978-82) buying a few of Steve Martin’s comedy albums and enjoying the combination of stand-up and banjo picking.

In one of his skits, Steve makes the comment that “you just can’t play a sad song on the banjo” and goes into an upbeat . . . “Oh death and grief and sorrow and murder.”

Below is another example of “you just can’t play a sad song on the banjo,” along with Alison Brown and others.

There is no sadness in this song and I am again reminded what a talent Steve is.
