We hear daily that folks are fleeing California in record numbers. It’s a beautiful state but has become over regulated with more rules being added almost daily.
The Babylon Bee is an equal opportunity parody site. Parody, once a very popular genre of entertainment, is fighting the tide of “ wokism/cancel culture. Everyone gets offended these days and it makes me chuckle to think what would happen if the likes of Richard Pryor, Don Rickels, George Carlin, Steve Martin ( yes, that Steve Martin who got his start doing stand up) Franklin Ajaye and others dropped in and did today what they did 30-40 years ago.
For you youngsters out there ( or those with short memories), Richard Pryor was recorded doing stand up in 1974. The title of the album was “That N*gger’s Crazy”. The album spent four weeks at #1 on Billboard music Charts (R&B/Soul) and received the Grammy in 1974 for the Best Comedy Album. I bought the record four years later in college and sold it a few years ago for a lot more than I paid for it.
What’s happened to comedy? Where has our collective sense of humor gone? Why are so many offend by such unimportant things?
Here is a recent Babylon Bee video about a couple that moves from California to Texas and is experiencing their first neighborhood cook-out. The funniest part is at the end and I also think they missed the opportunity to bring the very visible side arms into the skit, but they did not.
It is called Parody folks. Don’t take yourself too seriously.
Humor moved to Texas … 😉
