Flashback (A Must Read)

I came accross this meme earlier today and the picture caught my eye and then I embraced the value of the verse.

The picture,  a Phoenix rising from the flames also reminded me of a record album I won at our church fair, somewhere around 1973 or so. It was Grank Funk Railroad’s, Phoenix.  It is a very interesting album, especially if you liked the Hammond B3 organ, or were a tree hugging hippy. I came to appreciate both from this record (I did however, outgrow the tree hugging hippy part over time)

Here is the hit off the record, performed live… Those were the days for great concerts!

Anyone of the oldsters here ever see them live?

Live at The Forum, Los Angeles, California. June 1974    Mark Farner (Vocals, Guitar) Mel Schacher (Bass) Don Brewer (Drums & Backing Vocals) Craig Frost (Keyboards & Backing Vocals)

BUT . . . and here is the best part.

Then I found this video. . and a tear welled up in my eyes as I watched it and watched it and watached it again. An older Mark Farner and a guy who lived during those glory days.

This the best music video I’ve seen in 35+ years and and better than any of that crappy super bowl commercials (except maybe the Chevy/Sopranos spot) You gotta watch it to the end.

Memories…to be shared.
