My office is very close to the Cooper River and many of the maritime industries that depend on the river for their movement of materials, both raw and finished. I can walk a few blocks and watch the big cargo vessels passing under the Don Holt Bridge on I-526.
With all those international companies, one doesn’t have to think too hard to realize that a variety of foods are available for our visiting merchant marine sailors and those that work in the shipyards.
Tonight, I treated myself to a quick dinner at The CODfather, Proper Fish & Chips in North Charleston. Only two miles from my office, I’ve driven by it countless times, always saying to myself that I must stop there one day. Today was the day and it was worth the wait.
Some of life’s simple pleasures come wrapped in plain paper…with a bottle of malt vinegar on the side.
