Yes, I’m well aware that today is also Mother’s Day and I worked out many of the relative details ahead of time. I have already spoken to my mother (at 0650 hrs.) for the first of at least two times today. Her Mother’s Day flowers were delivered on Wednesday, because . . . who’d expect that? Last evening, I gave my wife her Mother’s Day present early, just in case I died in my sleep last night . . . gratefully, I did not.
All my planning paid off and now it’s about me, (just don’t tell Alicia).
Today is also Grandfather’s Day, at least for me. Elissa and Cole are planning on stopping by for a few minutes on their way from the hospital with the latest addition to our family, Theodore Scott, (aka “Little Buddy”) who was born on Friday, May 7th at 0003hrs.
Adeline, his older sister, will now begin to learn the nuanced arts of sharing and as they get older, and as siblings often do, of trying to place the blame on him for all that is wrong in their little world. I look forward to following the action from a ringside seat and being able to share the wisdom that comes from being a battle scarred old man.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there, happy Grandfather’s Day to me and Happy Grandmother’s/Mother’s Day to my wife, who has agreed to let me hold Theodore, for at least a minute or two.
Well, it is Mother’s Day, ya know.
Theodore Scott, swaddled and resting after his first full day “on the outside”.
We are blessed!
