“Learn to value yourself, which means to fight for your happiness”
Ayn is better known for the following quote, “Who is John Galt?”, from her fourth and final book, Atlas Shrugged
There has been a lot of chatter recently about George Orwell’s 1984 being very prophetic regarding recent goings-on.
Those of you who have read Atlas Shrugged know that Ayn Rand may have had a crystal ball back in 1957 when she wrote the 1,168-page book, which depicts much of what is going on in our Country these days.
it is a great book…

Yes, I’ve read it 3 times and also have the movie that was made from it.

I read it in high school at the suggestion of a teacher. I have never been able to bring myself to reread it because I didn’t want to change how much I loved it. Love it. One of the few books I read and felt like I really absorbed.

I bet you can’t even find a mention of the book in high schools today…it is definitely not PC.

Oh this wasn’t on OUR curriculum 😉 this was just a recommendation from a bit of a rebel teacher. 🙂

It took me a whole summer of riding the bus to and from work (summer high school job) to read that book! I found a copy of it last summer at a book swap – going to read it again!

That’s always when I read it….Summer vacations. I never had the experience of commuting by bus.

A great quote, which possibly encapsulates Rand’s greatest contribution to human thought: that happiness is yours, to make possible, here and now.
