Don’t You Know I Had A Dream Last Night

Anyone besides yours truly having trouble sleeping these days?

To take it one step further, anyone else having weird dreams?

My sleep schedule has become completely disrupted and my dreams have gotten more unusual.

Last night, after sleeping for two hours and then tossing and turning for almost four, I got up to let the dogs out and fed them at a little after 5am. I then went back to bed and didn’t get up until almost 9am.  I can’t ever recall staying in bed that late, short of having a bug/flu.

To my surprise, later this morning as I began checking emails/texts, I came across a message from one of our daughters with an article about sleeping and dreaming amid this virus thing.

The Pandemic is giving people Vivid Dreams.

This is an interesting article from National Geographic that at one point equates the stress brought about the virus with the effects of hallucinogenic drugs.  Well, that does explain a good bit of the current content of some of my nocturnal experiences.

The biggest concern I have though, is what is going to happen if we ever get back to work days as we knew them a few months ago?  I think it’s going to take some getting used to changing the rhythms our bodies are now following.  Time will tell.

To lighten the mood a bit, I was thinking of a song about dreams and came up with more than a few, but decided to settle on Dreaming Again by the late, great Jim Croce.

How many of you saw his name and thought, Oh, wow, I haven’t heard a Jim Croce song in years?   Any Croce stories out there?

So true about having weird dreams these days. Last night I dreamed there was an octopus in the house!

I was fifteen when Jim Croce passed, but by then, he had made an enormous impression on me as a songwriter. You’ve probably seen this already, but here is the Behind the Music documentary about Jim’s life.

I have, but will watch it again today since it will be storming all day. I was 13 and like when Kennedy was shot, I remember where I was when I heard the news. Croce was a great story teller and had many more to tell. Most remember him for the hits, but his catalogue is so incredible.

My sleep is total sh*t. I am lucky if I get four hours in a row – most usually it is broken. Then I am awake for an hour or two to finally fall back asleep, maybe getting an additional 1.5 to 2.5, if I’m lucky. I go to bed late, so I get up by 10-10:30 when I’m lucky. And yes! Dreaming like crazy!
Love me some Jim Croce – do you know his son, A.J.?
One of many songs I adore

Wow….great song. I’ve heard of him and listened to a few things years ago…. Add to your sleeping issues a 60-year old prostate, having to get up a few times a night and you got it 🙄

Glad you enjoyed! I discovered him, jeez…. bac in 1989-90? boy… he was maybe 23 and sounded like an old black man then!
Add to my 56-year old, possible menopausal self… Ugh.

Jim Croce is one of my favorites, and a local legend. He went to a neighboring high school, and then to Villanova! He was a member of the one of the campus singing groups while he attended, and I heard he performed at coffeehouses. As fate would have it, when I was in college, one of my roommates bought me his greatest hits for my birthday. It was while reading the album cover that I discovered that he had died on my birthday a few years earlier…
