I have been driving past this lot for several months and finally started to wonder why this house was still up on blocks?
Could it be because the homeowners were concerned for flooding as they were less than a half-mile from the Congaree & Saluda Rivers? Not likely as the lot is about 100′ of elevation change from the river to this street, but nice try.
Regardless, my thought as I drove by it today was that it might only be a matter of time, considering the house’s proximity to the University of South Carolina, that someone may grab a sledgehammer and engage in an alcohol-fueled game of Super Jenga.
No fencing to hinder access.
That might be a mistake.
umm – getting off the ground so they can tie big ropes around it and have a helicopter fly it away?

Wow! Great blog title, Ray, and wholly apt! Surely there’s a major code violation here?

I would think, but it’s off the beaten path and may have been missed.

Maybe they are waiting on the foundation contractor to come in and build the foundation for it.
