The Last Week In January

Most of us have a few songs that are anchored to holidays or maybe certain events in our lives.

Some of mine are:

Alice’s Restaurant on Thanksgiving

Another Christmas Song on Christmas

Hard Place on Memorial Day

Song in the Breeze on November 3rd.

And January 23-30 1978 during that week.

From the Jackrabbit Slim Album (home of Romer’s Tune), “January” is one of my favorite songs by Steve Forbert. I guess I’ve been listening to it regularly for about forty-one years now, but who’s counting?

great song; he’s got such a way with words. I wonder if he would write it differently today, given the hint of drinking and driving in the lyrics. By the way, does that album cover make him look like a young Mick Jagger, or am I just imagining it?
