Bonding

One of the remarkable aspects of experiencing our first grandchild is to observe the interaction between her and her dog.

While life sometimes seems like an “Extreme” carnival ride, its the baby and our dogs that cause our blood pressure to drop and smiles to appear on our faces.  As I prepare this, the “twins” are at my feet and I can hear my wife listening to a video of Adeline “talking”  earlier today.

Peaceful.

There is already a bond between Adeline and Selby. Sadly,  Selby will soon be turning 13 and with Adeline coming up on being only three months old, she may never remember the dog that kissed her the day she was brought home from the hospital and became her first friend.

Selby definitely exhibits some protective behavior and since my middle name is “Anthropomorphic”, the dog is co-mothering the baby with our daughter.

No one is going to kidnap this baby.

What I d0 know is that Adeline is learning, although she doesn’t realize it, how a good dog is part of the family.

Remember, “Dog” is “God” spelled backward.

A coincidence?
