Am I The Only One Who Has Noticed?

I’m going to risk my reputation here and admit something. Even though I’m 59 years old, I still eat cereal for breakfast on most mornings.  Some habits are hard to shake off.

For the most part, I eat “grown-up cereal,” but that’s just a rationalization.

One of my typical, grown-up” cereals.

Over the last few months, I have noticed that cereal boxes themselves have gotten flimsier, tearing and ripping. The boxes themselves are just not as sturdy as they used to be.

Let’s not even talk about the inner bags.  We can do open heart surgery on a baby still in its mother’s womb, but we can’t figure out how to engineer a re-sealable bag for a box of cereal?

Am I the only one who has noticed?

I still love my Frosty Flakes and other flavored “kid” cereals. What matters more to me is how much cereal is in the bag. The contents have gotten smaller in amount as well as the size of the box. Regarding the box quality and the inner bags, no different from what you had observed.Blame it on inflation. The manufacturer is cutting corners.

  5. And they don’t even put free gifts in anymore. Some silly notion that kids might choke on them! I still remember well my submarine that really dived and resurfaced by putting a little baking soda in a compartment at the bottom!

The inner bags are also really hard to open without tearing them apart! Then the cereal ends up all over the place.
