Report From The Back Roads

Once a month, I make the 111 mile trip to our state office in Ladson, SC.

IMG_5194I have a choice of two, basic routes.  One is 138 miles of Interstate driving and the other is 111 miles of back roads.  Both routes get me there in the same amount of time.

I take the backroads.

Most of the trip is on US 78 and in the course of ten minutes, this two-lane highway takes me past the late, Jim Harrison’s studio/gallery in Denmark, SC and then The “Welcome to Bamberg” sign, noting it being the hometown of US Ambassador to The United Nations Nikki Haley. (She was also the first woman governor of the State of South Carolina)

There is a lot to see if you take a few extra minutes to take the backroads.

  1. Back roads are absolutely the best. It feels like you get to see the real America.
