Martha

Yesterday, I was enlisted to take Martha to the local animal shelter to get her “talons” ground down a bit.

Because Martha has an aversion to getting her nails done, we had to make arrangements for her to be sedated so as to keep her from getting hurt from struggling  . . . or eating the person trying to trim her nails.

It was the first time I had been back to the Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare since October 19, 2014, when a few friends and I provided entertainment for the Barkaritaville fundraiser.

It’s amazing how many changes can occur in four years.   A few weeks ago, Jim Paczynski and I got together for a few beers and shared stories. Neither of us has played much and I have sold (and/or donated) all my equipment and guitars except one. Jim admitted that he used to play every day, now it’s been months since he last picked up an instrument.

Playing was a big part of our lives and I must admit, I mourn the loss of getting together with the guys and playing, knowing we will probably never do it again.

Phases of our lives come and go, but memories, they don’t fade away.

Oh, and Martha’s front paw weapons have been neutralized for the time being.

Zeke is not a fan of the nail cutting either. I loathe doing it but must on occasion.
Fun stuff. Too bad you can’t keep getting together once per…. (whatever you can manage…)

I really enjoyed meeting your musician buddies, Ray. Maybe in time there will be more openings for your guitar both practice and performing. Cycles seem to come and go. And then hopefully come back!
