As I was reading my daily blogs yesterday, I came across an article at Cultural Offering entitled, Record Year, -#323.
This was a short story about Randy Meisner’s Album, One More Song.
Thanks to my buddy Kurt for reminding me of this album.
What caught my eye was the pull quote from the review, mentioning Randy’s time with the Eagles, but it failed to mention that he was also one of the early members of Poco, (and was replaced by Timothy B. Schmidt, now of The Eagles.)
Poco was one of the first bands I really enjoyed and I can still remember the first time I heard the song below when I was in 5th grade. I got hooked.
While Poco never achieved the popularity and success of The Eagles, I consider them every bit as good.
The title track of the first record, with Randy Meisner on Bass Guitar and vocals.
I am of the opinion that The Eagles lost their soul when they dumped Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon. Meisner’s vocals are unique, adding a depth to the over all sound of The Eagles that Timothy B Schmidt voice doesn’t.
Love POCO, I have a “best of” CD cued up in the car.

DeLIVErn was one of the first LPs I ever bought and still a favorite. I’ve never been an active fan of the Eagles, but will go back and listen to some comparisons this evening between Randy and TBS.
