Why A Chapter 2?

Some of my blogging buddies have asked the reason why I have stopped posting to  A Simple Village Undertaker and started this blog?

The answer is simple and two-fold.

First, it appears that after 39 years, I have retired/been put out to pasture from funeral service.  There are major shifts taking place in that world and while I saw and successfully prepared for those changes starting over fifteen years ago, this 57-year-old can’t seem to find an entity that is interested in his assistance.   Along with that, the name implied that the blog was about funeral service and while there occasionally were articles about my work, the majority of my posts were simply sharing what I was thinking about/seeing/listening to at that moment.

Second, since February of 2010, I have posted exactly 3,800 posts at the undertaker blog.  That pretty much used up all the free storage space that WordPress offers and I’m not interested in paying for additional storage and some of the other upgrades that go along with it. I have never wanted to make a penny from the blog, (still succeeding at that) and see no reason to spend money on it.   The new title and tagline simply depict my current situation.

So that’s it in a nutshell.

  2. So you are burying the old blog. Are you asking for donations in lieu of flowers?

Wow, that’s a lot of posts! Looking forward to seeing what direction you go in now.
I’m only at 6% of my 3.0 GB upload limit, so at the rate I’m going, I can blog for another 94 years before I run out of free space…
